Does the CPNRD board of directors conduct business the way elected public officials should? In recent times, it has become obvious that the voting majority of the Central Platte NRD could be legitimately accused of not conducting it's affairs in a businesslike way in the interests of the farmer and other constituents who elect them. Read on to see some recent examples. In some cases, the personal public conduct of a specific board member has been clearly contrary to what is normally expected of a leader - whether appointed, hired, or elected. |
| Selective enforcement against a landowner challenging COHYST |
| Read the summary of a selective enforcement complaint expressed publicly by the landowner at the public input agenda time at the CPNRD board meeting on October 23, 2003 [new 2/15/04] |
| When the landowner did not receive a response, a followup [certified] letter was sent. |
| Read the content of that December 9, 2003 letter [new 2/15/04] |
| This letter also includes
documentation on a public verbal, personal attack by Richard Mercer, Chairman of the Water
Resources Committee directed at that landowner. Read the contents of the "attack" portion of the letter. [new 2/15/04] |
| When the landowner did not receive a response by the requested 1/15/04 date, another followup [certified] letter was sent. |
| Read the content of the 2nd followup January 20, 2004 certified letter. [new 2/15/04] |
| Read the reply the landowner did receive dated January 22, 2004. But, it really said nothing! |
| The
landowner is now convinced, the voting majority of the CPNRD board is being irresponsible. So, Read what the landowner has now told them as of February 6, 2004. These are harsh words, but what other conclusions can a reasonable person reach? The voting majority of the CPNRD board apparently could care less about what happens to agriculture in the Platte Valley of Nebraska or the people who elect them! |
